Vulnerability

A vulnerability is a flaw or weakness in an IT system that attackers can exploit to carry out a successful attack. These vulnerabilities can arise from system flaws, features, or user mistakes, and attackers often take advantage of one or more of these weaknesses to reach their intended objective.

Here are some examples of cybersecurity vulnerabilities:

  • Absence of data encryption
  • No security cameras in place
  • Unsecured business entrances
  • Allowing the upload of harmful files without restriction
  • Downloading code without verifying its integrity
  • Relying on flawed algorithms
  • Redirecting URLs to untrusted websites
  • Weak or unchanged passwords
  • Websites lacking SSL certificates
